 Jen Psaki began her political career in 2001 as a campaign manager for Iowa Democrat Tom Harkin for the United States Senate. Psaki later served as John Kerry’s presidential campaign’s deputy press secretary in 2004. Psaki previously served as the communications director for the United States representative Joseph Crowley, as well as the regional press secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign.

Served In Obama’s Administration

Psaki worked as a traveling press secretary for US Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008.

After Barack Obama won the election, she served as deputy press secretary and later on was promoted to deputy communication director.

Psaki left this position on September 22, 2011, and became senior vice president and managing director of Global Strategy Group’s Washington, D.C., office. 

Psaki returned to political communications in 2012 as press secretary for President Obama’s reelection campaign. Psaki was later on appointed as the United States Department of State’s spokesperson on February 11, 2013.

Psaki left her career, and the White House appointed Karine Jean Pierre; Psaki will now serve as the political analyst throughout the 2022 USA elections and the presidential campaign in 2024. Furthermore, She’ll also be hosting a show on MSNBC’s Peacock streaming service in 2023.

Personal Life

Psaki married Greg Mecher on May 8, 2010; Mecher served as chief of staff to Congressman Steve Driehaus; later, Mecher worked as Congressman Joe Kennedy’s chief of staff. In 2006, the couple met while working for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, got married four years later, and had two children together.
