“It’s funny because I always knew I wanted to be a musician. And Britney Spears — that sounds catchy. Christina Aguilera — that sounds catchy. Chelsea Chanel Dudley is my full name. Chelsea Dudley, in my opinion, doesn’t sound like a rapper. So I said to myself, ‘You know what? I’m going to drop both of those names and go by Chanel.”

She further added.

“And then it’s funny because I accidentally added the West Coast back in the MySpace days,” she continued. “When I was looking for a URL for my MySpace music page, I noticed that all Channels were taken, so I thought, ‘You know what? Because I’m a West Coast rapper, I might just make my URL Chanel West Coast.’ And then it stuck with me, and people started calling me West Coast like it was my last name, ‘What up, West Coast!?'”
